Bangalore
Metropolitan Transport Corporation has introduced
an open-top bus service called Cauvery. In its bid to
serve tourists, Cauvery provides a 'maharaja'privilege by having
passengers sit on the cushion seats in the open top bus
Cauvery
has a capacity of 38 seats. To avoid any inconvenience to tourists,
the BMTC management has decided not to allow any overload at all. Tourists
can also have the luxury of paying fares in exact figures as the fares
have been rounded off.
This
service is scheduled at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Each trip
around the city takes approximately one and a half hour. In its 20 kms
route, the bus covers some important roads like Dr. Ambedkar Veedhi,
Kasturba Road, Cubbon Road, M.G Road, Double Road, K.G Road and J.C
Road.
The
bus crew allow a 10 minute break at Vidhana Soudha so tourists can take
photographs and admire the beauty of the mighty structure. At Lalbagh,
there is another 15 minutes break so people can enjoy a stroll in the
garden.
The
smooth movement of the Cauvery is helped by a carefully selected driver's
safety consciousness. The driver of Cauvery helps tourists have the maximum
opportunity to admire his city. The conductor not only
issues tickets but also works as a guide. With the help of a megaphone,
he explains the importance of the various sights. In between, the tourists
have the opportunity to hear the latest film songs.
In a short span, the Cauvery has invited a lot of appreciation, especially
from foreigners, who once were easy prey for extortion by notorious
auto rickshaw and taxi drivers.
Wish
you luck for your trip in Cauvery. Happy sightseeing!
