Bangalore is famous for things that you don't
find the best of anywhere else. Mementos that last for an
eternity and keep reminding you of Karnataka's wonderful
heritage. They also make great gifts that bring a smile to
anyone's face. We're talking about sandalwood, incense sticks,
Lambani jewellery, Mysore silks, brass and ivory artifacts;
inlay work with rosewood and wooden toys of course.
If
you want to collect some great Sandalwood images go to Cauvery
or Cottage Industries Emporium on M.G.Road where you will find
some enthralling images of various deities. Sandalwood
keychains are extremely popular and affordable.
For silks visit
Handloom House or the KHDC showrooms. The Karnataka Silk
Industries Corporation runs showrooms at M.G.Road and
K.G.Road. You also get great materials at Cauvery.
For
leather visit Lidkar on Residency Road and Commercial Street
Cross. It's run by the Karnataka government and is reasonably
priced compared to the private retailers.
Other places
to shop for great souveniors are Kempe Gowda Road,
Jayachamarajendra Road, Jayanagar Shopping Complex, Chickpet,
Commercial Street and Russel Market.
