Come summer, and so many things come as a bonus along with it. Year after year, every year we have it all - both the good and the bad. The good is vacations for students, the wait for rains, and last but not the least, the king of fruits - Mangoes! These are available in huge quantities all over the town, but nothing to beat the sale at the Palace Grounds of Bangalore. The flip side has the heat (which is increasing by the year), the pollution, and the traffic, due to the line of mango carting vehicles.
Yes, mangoes are a pleasure, the sweet, juicy, pulpy fruits. Who can resist a mango? One can do anything; I mean undergo any ordeal for these fruits. On a normal summer day, you've had it if you have to move around the palace grounds, especially towards Jayamahal extension. The entire stretch of road is lined up with different vehicles on both the sides. The commuters on the road find it highly inconvenient to move along due to the narrowing of the road.
These vehicles come and go at random on their own will and wish, disrupting the anyways-sluggish flow of traffic further. The entire surroundings chorus with the shrill vehicle horns. People initiate abusing each other first, then the government, and then the mangoes itself.
One has rightly said - "You never learn to swear unless you learn to drive". This holds very true in Bangalore, especially around the Palace Grounds during any event - right from mangoes to concerts, exhibitions and all.
