At last, it is all happening for music in our city. Bangalore is rocking with some quality live performances. April brought none other than the 'Gods of Rock'- Deep Purple!! The frenzy experienced by Bangaloreans was simply unbelievable.
As if that was enough, soon there were rumors in the air that Bryan Adams would be performing for us. April passed us by and May tumbled along and there he was last evening, Bryan Adams, on stage singing some of the most charming numbers. Needless to say, the crowds went ecstatic and the girls were almost delirious with joy seeing their 'hero' in flesh and blood.
The skies were threatening to burst open but there was only a light drizzle, which by no means dampened the spirits of the people. We continued dancing till he ended with one of the most heart-rending numbers 'The Way You Make Me Feel'.
A lucky girl from the 'congregation' was called up by Bryan Adams to sing with him on stage. She seemed weak in the knees as she was seen trembling with excitement! Little did she dream of standing next to one of today's famous 'rock stars' and sing!
Two hours seemed like two seconds and the crowd was left asking for more!! But just like, how 'All good things come to an end,' the show did too. We walked out of the venue happy with another eventful evening spent.
It's only when we got to our jeep that we realized that it was cleverly opened with a 'hairpin' or a similar 'tool'. The music system fixed in the car was in pieces. The relentless efforts in trying to detach it went in vain! My 'Austrian raincoat' was missing. A pair of 'Rayban' sunglasses and a 'walkman' was pinched too. This is not the only incident. Someone had broken open my car at an exhibition, just for a pack of chips and a bar of chocolate :-((
These features are becoming very common in Bangalore today. Wherever there are concerts and exhibitions, people park their cars around the venue and move in. If their cars are not secured by anti-theft devices like 'Auto-Cop', or counterparts, their belongings are not safe. These are foreseen cases in such enormous crowds. Yet, the City Police takes no initiative in securing Public Property. Why is it so? On the contrary, such events should have more security arrangements, enabling the citizens to have some good experiences. Feel free to contribute your thoughts at the Banging it out Board, on the Communiqué. .
Things could have been wonderful, if the authorities had some foresight. What a dismal end after a splendid evening!
